Siam Thai Cuisine

About Us

We serve the best Maharashtrian and Punjabi Food in the Bay Area

Go to any hotel and you will find on the menu card, not only a host of South Indian, Punjabi, Gujarati items but even the Chinese-Mexican – Thai items. Have you ever seen authentic maharashtrian zunakabhakar, raita made up of roasted eggplant, jawar bhakar or puranpoli, listed on the menu card? If at all, it will be a rarest of the rare moment. There are hardly any hotels or Dhaba’s, known for genuine Maharashtrian dishes. This is the main reason behind starting a new Dhaba in Nagpur by name ‘Siam Thai Cuisine’ where one can enjoy mouth watering Maharashtrian dishes like Zunakabhakar, mugavada bhaji, Thaalipeeth, Appe, Jawarbhakar, Daalpalak and ChillyThechaa.

There are a variety of items coming from Maharashtrian cuisine; however there are no hotels dedicated to this variety. With our backing and promoting of these type of hotels, many people will start visiting them with the sole purpose of enjoying the taste of assal maharashtrian food. I started Siam Thai Cuisine eight years ago with this purpose in mind. Napurkars welcomed this idea and even the non maharashtrian people frequently visit us and enjoy the taste of our preparations. I come from a middle class background and therefore i am aware that whenever we invite friends & relatives for a party, we fix a ceiling on the amount for the expenses. And exactly at this point that budget goes haywire . This led us to start a restaurant where you can easily accommodate 20 to 25 persons at a time, at a very short notice and at a cost well within your budget.

The moment you enter the Dhaba, you feel the fresh, pleasant and homely ambience. There is a Thali system where you can enjoy all the items meant for that day. It is different from conventional Thali system, in that you yourself can take the items of your choice from the counter, as many times as you want and that too, in unlimited measure. Only limit is your capacity to digest and here Siam Thai Cuisine cannot help you, once your belly is full! You can sit on a wooden cot, open to sky or on comfortable chairs and enjoy the food. The food is always kept hot by constantly heating it on the stoves. There are cooks making bhakari right in front of you so that it is ‘ovenfresh’ in true sense.

On your arrival, you are greeted with a welcome drink. In summer, a special roller press is kept which you can operate by yourself to extract fresh juice from sugarcane. For a starter you have Thalipeeth or hot Appe, waiting for you. After this, the main course starts. Nowadays children prefer snack items to normal meals. Dhaba provides these so as not to disappoint them. Keeping in mind the Maharashtrian tradition of eating paan (Betel leaf) after the meals, arrangement is made to keep all the ingredients where one can make his or her own paan as per one’s taste.

An arrangement of a trolley has been made to bring hot bhakari’s to your table so that you do not have to go to the counter every time. The trolley carrying a stove and the cook, runs around all the tables serving you hot bhakari’s , zunakabhakar or Thaalipeeth.

The dhaba is totally eco-friendly. We have employed the concept of ‘zero waste’. A well has been built behind the hotel building. All the waste is collected and dumped into this well. Bio-gas is generated which is used for the cooking.

From time to time various festivals are celebrated here and food items appropriate to the occasion are served. Regional food festivals like Khandeshi, Konkani, Kolhapuri, Saraswat, Gomantakiy , Vaidarbhiy and Marathwada are also arranged by us.

Siam Thai Cuisine ki Parnakuti is the next big step we have ventured into. We have deviated from the serving practice followed in Siam Thai Cuisine. Here you can sit in an airconditioned atmosphere and order any item from the list of variety of items specific to any region of Maharashtra. For breakfast, you can choose from very tasty Maharashtrian specialities like Thaalipeeth, Batatavada, Misalpaav, Ukadpendhi, Chakali, Dhirade, Fodanichi poli, Fodanicha bhaat, Varanfale, Sambarvadi …. and on and on. All these vegetarian items are available in plenty.

Seriously… i got the food 30mins late from thr pick up time. Which took more than 1 hour to get a dish. No silverware and napkins..Don’t take online order if you cannot handle. No apologize, just asking where I odered from… come on.

Lunch time on a hot day. No a-c. Door open. But not even a ceiling fan. Aside from the temp, the inside was very nice. Beer could have been colder, but was o.k. Lunch specials fairly priced. Came with egg roll, soup, small salad and entree. Egg roll was pretty mushy on the inside. Entree was good and they delivered the spice level I requested, was nice and spicy. Only saw one bit of basil though. Not enough for a dish that has basil in the name. Super great service...a very nice lady. I will be back when it is a cooler day.

I ordered on DoorDash and was disappointed by the service and the food.-Service-The restaurant substituted ingredients from two orders of 74. Duck Fried Rice without checking first. They should have indicated that it was sold out on DoorDash so customers can't order it. They also failed to follow my instructions to make both fried rice spicy and with basil.-Food-The rice dishes were not spicy at all, instead they were too wet and sweet. The Sweet Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango has good mango but the sticky rice is like a tough blob. They should probably put the coconut milk in a separate container. The only thing I enjoyed was the grill on the Pla Muk Yang. This meal was too expensive for what we got.

Contrary to many other reviews we thought the ambience and service were both fine. It's the food that's the issue here. The Tom yum soup tasted strangely very salty. The roti was a flat pancake (not the pyramid kind) but more importantly it tasted like they bought it from 99 ranch and just heated it in a pan. The red curry chicken was all soup/gravy and barely had any chicken. The lemongrass beef was tough and chewy. The mango tofu had a few tiny pieces of mango. Do not recommend.

Thanks for making gluten free options! I had assumed all Thai was gluten free but they informed me that places put soy sauce in their green and red curries. They do make special gluten free but it's more labor. The red curry was delicious. It was enough for two so could have shared but instead took it home. I'll be back to try the other gluten free options since they are well aware!

Pathetic food quality. Went for a weekend buffet. Firstly, there were only a very items to select from and all of them were equally pathetic except only dahi vada. Better to avoid.

Went for weekday lunch. They have buffet. Curries lacked flavor and salt. They had kadhai paneer, baingan bharta, spinach curry, cabbage subzi, rassam, veg biryani, papad and payasum for dessert.

Hands-down my favorite go-to buffet place in the Bay Area for authentic home-style vegetarian Indian delicacies, especially for the sub-$20 price. With a renovated look, the place now has a modern ambience while maintaining the same traditional touch as before. Love the hospitality and how the chapatis are served hot & fresh on-demand. Their pathal bhaji with fluffy puris are to die for!P.S. Their New Year Eve buffet was the best I ever had in all of 2023. Kevin was a very sweet host encouraging all guests to try every single dish!

Excellent Indian food and also event center. Perfect for birthdays and small gatherings. I came here to photograph a children’s birthday event, and it was perfect for about 40 people. Parking is easy, the area is safe, and the food is good. There is a main restaurant portion on one side of the restaurant and an event center on the other side of the restaurant. The restaurant servers were working hard and got all the food out on the table in time. They brought all the food out and it was fresh and delicious!Highly recommended for your next child’s birthday or small party!

Awesome food. We went to try this place for the first time, honestly we didn’t like the vibe inside first but we were surprised with the food quality, portions were generous and the food was delicious. They make everything fresh which is good, we underestimated the portion for biryani, it can be shared by 4 people. Their prices are reasonable, definitely recommend this place. So far this is the first place I’ve found that serves quality and fresh Indian food. Last, I liked the way they serve the customers, polite people, would surely be coming back.
